Documentation: Market category editor (Expansion)

Editor for DayZ Expansion Market category files (JSON): display name, colour, exchange flag, initial stock and an item list with price and stock thresholds. Import an existing category, add or duplicate rows, catch duplicates and inconsistent thresholds, then export the JSON. Fields follow Expansion category files; the version number depends on your mod version. Trader and bank mods other than Expansion are not supported.

Open the tool

DayZ Expansion's Market groups its items for sale in JSON category files (one per category). Each item carries min/max price and min/max stock thresholds. This editor saves you from hand-editing long JSON files.

How to use the tool

  1. Import an existing category file from Expansion's Market folder (server profile) or start from the example.

  2. Set the category's display name, colour and initial stock.

  3. Add items by class name and set their price and stock thresholds.

  4. Fix the problems in the “Checks” panel (duplicates, min > max).

  5. Download the JSON, replace the category file on the server (server stopped) and restart.

Limitations

  • The tool handles ClassName, MaxPriceThreshold, MinPriceThreshold, SellPricePercent, MaxStockThreshold, MinStockThreshold and QuantityPercent. SpawnAttachments and Variants are written empty: do not use it as-is on a category that relies on them.
  • The m_Version number must match the files shipped by your Expansion version. Always compare with a file generated by the mod.
  • Trader files (positions, buy lists) and the bank are not covered; the tool does not target other trader mods.

Frequently asked questions

What does SellPricePercent = -1 mean?
In Expansion files, -1 generally means “use the default from the market settings”. Check the documentation of your Expansion version.
Are my prices sent anywhere?
No, everything stays in your browser; only your settings are remembered in localStorage.
