On a CS2 server, a Workshop map is started with host_workshop_map <ID>; ds_workshop_changelevel then switches maps by name. This tool prepares those commands and a map group. Community sources disagree on some details: test on your build.
How to use the tool
Enter one map per line: the Workshop ID or URL, then the map name (the .vpk file name without extension).
Copy +host_workshop_map into your launch line to start on the first map.
Put gamemodes_server.txt in game/csgo/ (CS:GO-inherited format) and the cfg in game/csgo/cfg/.
Restart and test each map change from the server console.
What is certain and what is not
Documented by several hosts: host_workshop_map (re-running it checks for updates), host_workshop_collection (builds a map group from a collection) and ds_workshop_changelevel. Not officially confirmed: using gamemodes_server.txt with Workshop maps and start-map support for a collection. The CS:GO-era API keys (-authkey) are not used here.
Frequently asked questions
- Where do I find a Workshop map ID?
- It is the number after ?id= in the map's Workshop page URL.
- Are my maps sent to a server?
- No, everything stays in your browser (local storage). The tool does not contact Steam and does not check that the map exists.
