The Bedrock Dedicated Server reads its configuration from server.properties, next to the bedrock_server executable. This tool generates a file with the most useful keys and their verified default values; other keys (scripting, diagnostics…) keep their defaults when omitted.
How to use the tool
Import your existing server.properties (optional) or start from the defaults.
Set the name, player count, game mode, difficulty and allow-list.
Adjust view-distance and tick-distance to the machine's power (higher values = more CPU).
Stop the server (stop command), replace server.properties then restart bedrock_server.
Ports, allow-list and notes
Bedrock uses UDP: 19132 for IPv4 and 19133 for IPv6 by default (server-port, server-portv6). According to the wiki, allow-list defaults to true: only players listed in allowlist.json can connect (use the “allowlist” tool). The server has no RCON and the MOTD cannot be set in this file; server-name is the name shown on the LAN/pause screen. After a server update, compare your keys with the new file shipped.
server-name=Dedicated Server
server-port=19132
server-portv6=19133
allow-list=trueFrequently asked questions
- Why can't anyone connect?
- First check allow-list (true by default according to the wiki) and the content of allowlist.json, then that UDP port 19132 is open on the firewall and router.
- Can consoles join?
- According to the Minecraft Wiki, Xbox, PlayStation and Switch can only connect through a LAN server or a custom DNS, not by adding an IP directly.
