Important: to our knowledge Hell Let Loose has no downloadable public dedicated server (no documented SteamCMD app); servers are rented from hosting partners of the studio. This guide therefore explains how to rent, configure and administer a server, without inventing a self-hosting procedure. Sources: hosting guides and community discussions; no official source was consulted.

Step-by-step installation

  1. Check in official announcements and with hosts that server rental is available.

  2. Pick a partner host, a region close to your players and the slot count.

  3. Open the host's panel and locate the IP, game port and RCON.

  4. Edit the settings file (name, passwords, welcome message, queue, idle kick).

  5. Compose the map rotation (mode, map, time of day) and choose sequential or shuffled.

  6. Add admins (SteamID64 + rank), permissions per rank and the VIP list.

  7. Restart the server: files are only read at startup.

  8. Connect an admin tool (e.g. CRCON) to RCON and test from the game.

  9. List the server on game-rank.com.

Requirements

A subscription with a partner host (the host supplies the hardware), the game to test the connection, and each admin's SteamID64. Offers, prices and the status of Hell Let Loose: Vietnam change: check them with the host.

No local or VPS install

No SteamCMD command, systemd unit or firewall rule is given here: without a documented public server we do not invent them. If the studio ever publishes a dedicated server, this guide will be completed from its official documentation.

Ports to open

At the host, the ports are opened for you. According to a host guide, RCON is TCP on the game port + 2 (e.g. 7777 → 7779); read the exact IP and ports in your panel. With an external admin tool (CRCON, bot), allow it to reach that TCP port.

Configuration files (host side)

  • Settings file: name, passwords, welcome message, idle kick, team kills, maximum queue
  • Map rotation: one line per entry, read top to bottom, with a shuffle option
  • Admins: SteamID64 → rank; permissions file per rank; VIP list (one SteamID64 per line)

Updates

Game updates are applied through the host's panel (a Steam update button at some hosts); restart afterwards. Configuration files are re-read at startup.

Listing and finding your server

Once the server is reachable from outside, add it on game-rank.com/jeux/hell-let-loose (the owner's site) so players can discover it.

Troubleshooting

  • Server not found in the browser: it wasn't restarted after a change, or the client game version differs.
  • RCON refuses the connection: wrong password, wrong IP, or the RCON TCP port is blocked on the tool's side.
  • Admins lack their rights: wrong SteamID64, rank missing from the permissions file, server not restarted.
  • Rotation not working: map identifier outdated after an update — reuse the values from the file your host provides.
  • Players stuck in the queue: check the maximum queue size and your plan's slot count.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a Hell Let Loose dedicated server via SteamCMD?
None is publicly documented to our knowledge: servers go through partner hosts. We therefore give no app ID.
Which tool should I use to administer an HLL server?
Community tools such as CRCON or a Discord bot connect to RCON; the host often also provides an admin client.
Why aren't map identifiers listed here?
They change with updates and could not be verified against an official source; use your host's.
Do I need to open ports myself?
Not for the rented server; only if an admin tool hosted by you must reach RCON — in that case it is an outgoing connection from your side.
