The garrysmod/cfg/server.cfg file is executed at every start and map change. This tool builds it from a form: identity, network, security, sandbox options and limits.
How to use the tool
Enter the server name, the RCON password (never the same as the player password) and the region.
If you use FastDL, set its URL in sv_downloadurl; keep sv_allowcslua at 0 unless you really need it.
Adjust sandbox options (noclip, godmode) and limits (props, ragdolls, NPCs, vehicles).
Download server.cfg and put it in garrysmod/cfg/; restart the server or type exec server.cfg in the console.
Where to put the file and what happens at startup
The file goes in garrysmod/cfg/server.cfg. Values passed on the command line (+maxplayers, +gamemode, +map) are not in this file: use the “Launch command” tool. The sbox_max* limits offered here are common values to adapt to your server.
Frequently asked questions
- Why is my server.cfg ignored?
- Check that it is in garrysmod/cfg/ (not the root), that the name is exact and that no line is malformed. Test with exec server.cfg in the server console.
- Is my data sent anywhere?
- No. Everything is generated in your browser and saved only in local storage. Still, avoid sharing the file with your RCON password in it.
