Documentation: Terraria launch script generator

Terraria launch script generator for a Terraria dedicated server: -config, -world, -port, -players, -pass, -secure, -noupnp, -steam. The file is generated locally in your browser: no data is sent to a server and your settings stay in your browser's local storage.

Open the tool

A Terraria server is started with command-line parameters. This tool builds a readable launch script (start-terraria.sh / start-terraria.bat), one parameter per line, ready to save.

How to use the tool

  1. Pick your system (Linux or Windows), then enter name, ports and player count.

  2. Replace the example passwords with long, unique ones.

  3. Download start-terraria.sh / start-terraria.bat and put it in <server-dir>/.

  4. On Linux make it executable (chmod +x) and run it; on Windows double-click it.

Good to know

Starting values come from official documentation or cross-checked sources; they may change with any game update. Re-check the generated file after a major update.

Always stop the server before editing its files (some games rewrite them on shutdown) and keep a copy of the old file.

Options come from the Terraria wiki server page. Command-line parameters override serverconfig.txt. On Linux, tmux keeps the server running after you log out.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I put start-terraria.sh / start-terraria.bat?
In <server-dir>/, with the server stopped. Back up the old version before replacing it, then restart the server.
Are my settings sent to a server?
No. Everything is computed in your browser. Your settings are stored only in your browser's local storage and can be erased from the Data page.
