For GTA V Enhanced, the solution documented by Cfx.re is FiveM for GTAV Enhanced, a platform separate from FiveM Legacy with its own server files (cfx-server). This guide follows the official documentation and flags what it does not cover (Linux launcher, txAdmin). Allow 30 minutes; a free license key from the Cfx.re portal is required.
Step-by-step installation
Get a free license key from the Cfx.re portal.
On Windows, install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2017 Redistributable (required for Enhanced).
Download the Enhanced server archive: cfx-server_win_x64 (Windows) or cfx-server-linux_x64 (Linux), from the download page linked in the documentation.
Extract it into a "server" folder and clone cfx-server-data into "server-data".
Generate server.cfg with the "FiveM Enhanced server.cfg generator" tool.
Run cfx-server from server-data with "+exec server.cfg".
Open port 30120 for TCP and UDP (system firewall, host, router).
Connect with FiveM for GTAV Enhanced locally ("connect 127.0.0.1:30120" in F8).
Automate startup and backups, then add the server on game-rank.com/jeux/gta-enhanced.
Requirements and compatibility
- OS: 64-bit Windows (VC++ 2017 Redistributable required) or 64-bit Linux. Minimum hardware is not officially documented; plan at least 4 cores / 8 GB for a busy RP server (unofficial estimate).
- Free license key (Cfx.re portal). Players use FiveM for GTAV Enhanced and must own GTA V Enhanced.
- Other platforms (RAGE:MP, alt:V): their Enhanced compatibility is not verified here, and unofficial third-party sources mention their shutdown in 2026; check their official sites before any project.
Local install (Windows)
The Enhanced executable is cfx-server.exe (instead of FXServer.exe). The documentation shows "+exec server.cfg" for FXServer; the same syntax is expected for cfx-server, to confirm in use.
git clone https://github.com/citizenfx/cfx-server-data.git C:\FXServer\server-data
cd /d C:\FXServer\server-data
C:\FXServer\server\cfx-server.exe +exec server.cfgInstall on a Linux VPS (Ubuntu/Debian)
The archive is named cfx-server-linux_x64. The official documentation does not state the name of Enhanced's Linux launcher: inspect the archive contents (a run.sh script as on Legacy is likely but unconfirmed) and adapt the last line.
sudo adduser --disabled-password --gecos "" fivem
sudo apt update && sudo apt install -y xz-utils git
sudo -iu fivem
mkdir -p ~/FXServer/server && cd ~/FXServer/server
# téléchargez cfx-server-linux_x64 depuis la page de téléchargement officielle, puis extrayez-le ici
cd ~/FXServer && git clone https://github.com/citizenfx/cfx-server-data.git server-data
cd ~/FXServer/server-data
# adaptez au lanceur réel de l'archive / adapt to the archive's real launcher :
bash ~/FXServer/server/run.sh +exec server.cfgPorts to open
The port is changed with endpoint_add_tcp and endpoint_add_udp (only one of each on Enhanced); open the same number. On a home router, forward it (NAT) to the local IP; at OVH, Hetzner, Scaleway also open it in the firewall / security group. Test from an outside network. The "FiveM Enhanced firewall rules" tool generates the commands.
- 30120/TCP and 30120/UDP — game and server listing (documentation example).
- 29200/TCP — RCON, off by default on Enhanced; open only to your IP.

File /etc/systemd/system/fivem-enhanced.service; adapt ExecStart to the archive's real launcher. If the service exits immediately (console without input), run the server in screen or tmux.

Update: stop the server, replace the contents of the server folder with the new archive (server-data and server.cfg stay untouched), restart. Legacy key-value files must be migrated to Enhanced. Back up server-data and your framework's database (MySQL/MariaDB). txAdmin: the Enhanced documentation describes no change for it, but a third-party host guide reports it is not yet supported; verify before relying on it.

systemctl restart fivem-enhancedList your server
A public server with a valid key appears in FiveM's server list; fill in sv_projectName, sv_projectDesc and tags. Also add your server on game-rank.com/jeux/gta-enhanced to get it known.
Troubleshooting
- Server does not start on Windows: install the Visual C++ 2017 Redistributable and run cfx-server.exe from server-data with +exec server.cfg.
- "Invalid license key": sv_licenseKey missing or wrong; regenerate it on the Cfx.re portal.
- Endpoint error: only one endpoint_add_tcp and one endpoint_add_udp are accepted on Enhanced.
- Legacy resources failing: Asset Escrow is not yet implemented, Mono is replaced by .NET and some key-value databases need migration.
- Players cannot connect: port 30120 not open for BOTH TCP and UDP (system, host, NAT) or a Legacy client used instead of FiveM for GTAV Enhanced.
Frequently asked questions
- Is GTA V Enhanced compatible with a FiveM Legacy server?
- No: Enhanced is a separate platform with its own server files (cfx-server) and its own client, per the Cfx.re documentation. Both versions coexist; FiveM Legacy remains the most widespread.
- Can RAGE:MP or alt:V be used with GTA V Enhanced?
- I found no official compatibility confirmation, and unofficial third-party sources say these platforms stopped or are stopping in 2026. Check their official sites; this tool only covers FiveM.
- Do I have to pay to host?
- The Cfx.re license key is free per the documentation; only hosting and any paid scripts cost money.
- How do I restrict RCON access?
- On Enhanced RCON is off by default (port 29200); if you enable it, open the port only to your IP (see the firewall rules tool) and use a strong password.
